The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is a government agency in the Philippines focused on providing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs to the growing TVET clients. Their objective is to empower, make people and communities productive through excellent training programs and services. TESDA is empowering Filipinos through their TOP program, or the TESDA Online program which is a web-based platform that offers free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for the technical education and skills development of the Filipino workers.
Nephila Web as a technology partner of TESDA has been empowering their trainers on the use of Moodle Learning Management System since the year 2017. In 2021, due to the increasing number of users in their system, there was a need to migrate their platform to a server infrastructure that can accommodate their massive users around 1 Million at that time and a thousand of concurrent users accessing all at the same time. The infrastructure was designed in AWS cloud architected and designed by Nephila Web to seamlessly accommodate their massive number of users. As of this time, they have 3 Million registered users. The migration and upgrading to the latest Moodle version were successful after multiple testing phases.
Our services for TESDA helped bring on a new phase on their platform, like the modified look and feel, customized course category structure and access for each region which will be managed by the Regional Admins, customized report and analytics for easier generation of statistical data. They also now have a Branded Moodle App, available on App Store and Play Store. The TESDA team also underwent the Moodle Training for Site Administrators and we also provided a special training course for their Regional Admins. The support and maintenance for the TOP is currently ongoing.
Nephila Web’s expertise allowed eTESDA to do what we need to do without worrying about technology issues. They complement our TVET expertise with their superb technical support for the TESDA Online Program to provide 24/7 Technical Vocational Education and Training for Filipinos.
