How does Moodle Workplace work and what is the difference from Moodle LMS?
Moodle Workplace is the LMS that we developed to respond to the specific needs of the corporate sector. It has a number of extra functionalities focused on creating and delivering training and onboarding processes. It is only available via our partner network. Learn more about the difference between Moodle LMS and Moodle Workplace. Moodle Workplace is not open source and is under a dual licensing: it is built on our open source LMS but can only be accessed via our Premium Partners. This is therefore not possible to download Moodle Workplace without the support of a Premium Partner. We’ve also created a series of videos to show Moodle Workplace in action. Click here!
Branded Moodle Workplace: How is multi-tenancy supported?
One app for all tenants: This will mean having a sole app with a “”common”” name for all the tenants and a login page without tenant styles or the tenant name. Once the user log-in, they will see their tenant styles. There is some ongoing work to allow a tenant selector in the app main page, that will force the site administrator to make the list of tenants visible though. Please note that Mobile specific site configurations will apply to all the tenants (like the Workplace distribution does). For example, if you disable an option via “”Site administration > Mobile app > Mobile features””, it will be disabled in all the tenants. Same when adding new custom menu items, they will be displayed in all the tenants.
Is Moodle Workplace open source?
No – Moodle Workplace is licensed software only available via our Certified Service Providers. While Workplace isn’t open source, it offers all of Moodle LMS’ best features with flexibility in integrations, site look and feel, and more.
Moodle Workplace - can we transfer our existing Moodle site over, or is it better to start fresh?
Moodle LMS can be upgraded to Moodle Workplace if the version of Moodle LMS is not higher than the version of Moodle Workplace
Is there any difference with moodle themes compared to Moodle Workplace?
Moodle Workplace theme cannot be replaced easily, as it is set by default, You can only change your own branding color and logo.
Branded Workplace App and Branded Moodle App: Is there a difference in pricing and features?
The Branded Workplace App has almost the same features that the Branded Moodle App but for a Moodle Workplace site. Pricing is also the same, but there are still some limitations with the Workplace version. Some Workplace features are not still supported in the app. The recommendation is to ask your potential clients to experiment first with the standard Workplace app to see if it works for their needs.
