About the Course

This 8-hour workshop about Moodle in AI is intended for Educators who are already teaching with Moodle.
Ideally teachers who have already completed the training Basics of Moodle for Teachers but not a strict requirement. Participants will
gain understanding on what Generative AI is, write effective AI prompts for tools such as Chat GPT, use AI to enhance Moodle
courses, and how teachers and your learners can use AI responsibly.

General Objectives

At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

      1. Learn the overview of Moodle Workplace Enterprise Learning Management System.
      2. Explore the Moodle look and feel. Discuss the overview of the Moodle look and feel, differentiate site versus dashboard navigations, customize navigation, and explore the front page settings.
      3. Manage LMS’s categories and courses, such as adding categories and sub-categories, deleting course categories, organizing courses and categories, creating courses, and managing courses in bulk.
      4. Manage user accounts, such as uploading users and enrolment methods.
      5. Distinguish the roles, permissions, and capabilities from different roles.
      6. Install third-party plugins and keep plugins up to date.
      7. Programs: Allocate and establish learning pathways for your employees that are typically used for onboarding employees.
      8. Certifications: Manage compliance training, such as turning your learning programs into certifications and creating automated recertifications.
      9. Learn the organization structure. Deploy department and position hierarchies to represent your organization structure.
      10. Know the dynamic rules. Define and execute centralized and automated rules.
      11. Know how to use the report builder. Provide a powerful custom reporting tool.
Module 1: Introduction to the Course
        1. Explain briefly the key terms associated with AI including Large Language Model and Prompt engineering.
        2. Provide examples of effective prompts
        3. Identify at least four AI tools useful in their teaching
        4. Identify a number of ways AI can help enhance their Moodle courses.
        5. Outline the main ethical issues relating to generative AI.
           
Module 2: Discover AI
      1. Explain the term AI means
      2. Explain what ‘Generative AI’ means
      3. Discuss what is a Large Language Model is and how it differs from a Google search
      4. Explore some examples of generative AI tools you can use as a teacher
Module 3: Write good prompts
    1. Explain what Prompt Engineering means.
    2. Explain what Hallucinations are.
    3. Demonstrate the importance of writing good prompts.
    4. Apply tips for writing effective prompts.
Module 4: Teaching Ideas
      1. Explore the limitations of using AI in your Moodle courses.
      2. Explore tips for generating course content.
      3. Create prompts for generating Moodle Quiz questions.
      4. Explore tips for generating Forum discussion posts.
      5. Create prompts for generating Moodle assignments.
      6. Create prompts for generating Moodle Lesson activities.
Module 5: AI Ethics
    1. Explore why we need to consider ethics when using AI tools
    2. Explore what we should think about as a teacher.
    3. Find out what we should consider regarding our learners.
    4. Check what we should think about when discussing guidelines and policies within our organisation.
